HOW SUSTAINABLE IS YOUR PROTEIN?
We’ve put together a guide to finding the most sustainable supplements out there...How does your protein stack up?
1. Plastic-free packaging.
Avoid brands which package their supplements in plastic tubs, metallic films and plastic lined bags. Many brands are now adopting more eco friendly options such as paper canisters and paper based packaging.
2. Single-use Scoops Suck.
These disposable suckers are included in far too many powdered supplements, choose brands which actively exclude these from their packaging. Try using our shaker bottles which have an integrated, reusable scoop, or simply use a tablespoon instead.
3. No Whey!
Whey powders are derived from a by-product of cheese and are environmentally destructive & resource intensive. Consider these alternatives:
Plant Based: These are often derived from brown rice or peas and are also incredibly easy to digest.
Insect based: Insects have been traditionally eaten in many cultures for their high protein benefits. Insects require little land and emit low levels of greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional animal husbandry. Consider adding cricket flour in your next protein shake as a delicious alternative!
Collagen Powders: Marine collagen is the most sustainable form of collagen, be sure to use brands which only source wild sustainably caught fish.
