Plant based protein

We’re a big fan of sustainability and the environment.

One of the main reasons we started Pro Scoop was due to the fact that so many supplement makers (eg: protein powder manufacturers) would add a single-use plastic measuring scoop to every bag of their supplement powders. Some might wonder why supplement manufacturers do this when all households have spoons sitting in their drawers. The answer is that an important factor ot taking supplements is taking the right amount. This is why so many supplement makers include the measuring scoop in every bag. This isn’t good for the ocean or our planet. As well as that, having the convenience of a scoop right there when you need it with your shaker bottle just makes life a whole lot easier.

So choosing the right protein powder is as important as choosing the right amount of protein powder to add to your drink, whether it be water, milk or plant based drinks like Soy Milk/Almond milk.

Why is plant based protein good for the environment?

Whey powders are derived from a by-product of cheese and are environmentally destructive & resource intensive. Cheese production uses a lot of resources that are related to farming….from land clearing, to water/feed for the animals and the energy required for all the equipment. Much of the protein that you find in whey powders originates from the protein that the animal eats. Many argue that you can go ‘straight to the source’ of the protein and find it in nature itself such as in plants, or alternatives that are less intensive on the planet.

Consider these sustainable alternatives:

  • Plant Based: These are often derived from brown rice or peas and are also incredibly easy to digest.

  • Insect based: Insects have been traditionally eaten in many cultures for their high protein benefits. Insects require little land and emit low levels of greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional animal husbandry. Consider adding cricket flour in your next protein shake as a delicious alternative!

  • Collagen Powders: Marine collagen is the most sustainable form of collagen, be sure to use brands which only source wild sustainably caught fish.

Our favourite plant based protein.

We prefer Botanika Blends and now stock these supplements on our website for sale, either as standalone products or bundled with our shaker bottles…why not upgrade your shaker bottle to a Pro Scoop the next time you need a protein powder top up for the best bundle value. Why do we love Botanika Blends so much? They don’t include a single use plastic scoop in every bag first of all! Secondly their products are gut-friendly, vegan-friendly, and planet-friendly. Thirdly they taste absolutely delicious and don’t have any of the usual nasty additives found in many supplements. Lastly, they blend well…even better in a Pro Scoop shaker bottle of course!

We also recommend these supplement brands

We recommend these companies over all others because they don’t include single use plastic measuring cups in every day. Think about how much better this is for the environment to support those companies making conscious decisions.
